The sunrise this morning from my kithen. I took this shot quickly as I got my kids ready for school. You know how the light changes, I took 2 more shots but the lighting was already changing. This was my first shot, decided to go with it.

Art Definition

The definition of art - "the quality, production, expression, or realm, according to aesthetic principles, of what is beautiful, appealing, or of more than ordinary significance".

One does not have to understand art in order to apreciate it. Art is supposed to evoke an emotion, whether it be happiness, sadness or utter disgust, the fact that it moved you, it was successful. One of my true inspirations is "Picasso's Guernica". It's symbolism reflets the pain and anguish of war during the Spanish Civil war, it was understood by the heart before the mind registered it. His paintings were a work of art and not biological drawings with labels.

My attempt is to create and define, not renderings, not mere hues, tones and what seems aesthetically pleasing to the human eye, but to search and reach into the depths of my core to produce images that touches the deep recesses of our hearts and minds.

Sunrise in Mayaro Trinidad, WI.

Photos by Cindy Holcomb

Whilst on vacation in Trinidad last year hanging out with my dad I took these. I started about 5am, I don't remember the exact time these were taken, but I think I may have taken about 12 shots, and these turned out the best. There was a storm the night before, so it was still pretty cloudy. Mayaro is on the east coast of Trinidad.

The Louvre

I took this photo in 2008 standing inside the Louvre and looking through a window. I thought it was an interesting prespective. This was taken with my Nikon D50, so outdated now, I am still pushing it but would really like to go FX soon!!

Check out Trey Ratcliff, very creative!

I'm against SOPA / PIPA, and here is why.

I think that we, the architects of the internet, are able to create bottom-up solutions for current and future problems. A good example of this is Creative Commons, and here I am at Google talking about how it affects "piracy" in my world of digital photography. this video should jump ahead to 11:48
