Of The Heart
This is the work in progress of my piece, "Of The Heart".
The piece depicts a bleeding heart but more so as it evolves, you will see how the heart appears in the piece......
There is a close connection between art and emotion. For some, art can either arouse or evoke emotion, whether it be happiness, sadness or utter disgust. The fact is, evocation of emotion by dramatic works of art can teach us about life tragedies, romance and distinguishing moments in our lives. One of my friends refrained from commenting on this piece because she was turned off of blood. To me, that was a compliment, it stirred an emotion in her. Which raises the question, should art be beautiful? This piece surely isn’t about pretty little daisies. Everyone has a different idea about what makes an artwork beautiful. For me, it is more important to go beyond the rules of traditional beauty and provide thought-provoking and challenging stimuli. Perhaps tomorrow I will want to paint gaiety.
