This is the piece in its dried state. Product has arrived and will be working on finishing up. A picture does not do this justice, there is so much detail that's hidden. Back to work, time to dabble.

  1. Can anyone guess what the heart will look like in the piece? For those that are privy to this, you are not allowed to say. I should finish the piece today.

  2. Hmmm... I actually see hearts embedded in the painting already. One is quite perfect, but quite a few are distorted... mangled and bloodied... like the human heart when "broken" I suppose. I think it looks awesome.

  3. Stress Cardiomyopathy

Thanks Susan, I was doing some research on what exactly a broken heart is, it is a condition called Stress Cardiomyopathy also known as broken-heart-syndrome. It’s a condition where a person suffers something like a heart attack but it’s not really a heart attack. It’s not the case where there is something medically wrong with the heart, but a case where the brain releases too much stress hormones that weakens the heart. So, a broken heart actually starts in the brain.

You are correct that the feeling you get from the piece is one of a bleeding heart. It was meant to be done that way. This painting is actually a story. My intent was not to embed images of the heart in the background, but it’s interesting to see what the mind conjures at the mere thought of the title.

If anyone can give a better description of Stress Cardiomyopathy, please feel free to comment.
